App: Headspace

I have only recently begun to meditate, and my app of choice is Headspace. The two apps that I was considering once I decided I would begin to meditate were Calm and Headspace. While Calm is probably the more well known app, I thought that in terms of meditation practices they were both sufficient. Ultimately, I decided to buy Headspace’s subscription because it had a student discount for only $10 per year, compared to Calm’s price of $60 per year.

I do not know which app I would choose if they were the same price, but for me, the student discount was the differentiator. Personally, I enjoy Headspace, and I try to meditate once every night before I go to sleep. I have always had difficulties falling asleep, and I still do even after using Headspace. However, meditating with Headspace at least allows me to calm my brain and body down before trying to sleep. It is also just a good daily ritual to have to try and center yourself once the day is over.

Since I mainly use Headspace to get ready for bed, I only use it before I go to sleep, but I know there are many people who prefer to meditate in the morning. I am sure that both practices are helpful, and it is more personal preference than anything else.

I am sure that there are many different meditation apps for people of all skill levels, so you can do your own exploring if you want. The most important thing is not the app, but the ritual of daily meditation in my opinion.

If you are a beginner and want to begin meditating, I would recommend giving Headspace a try!

This is a blog for myself (and hopefully others) to keep track of all of the places, restaurants, books, movies, etc. that I do not want to forget. I am a college student who has lived in the US, Asia, and Europe for extended periods of time; I am very lucky to have had these experiences, and I want to share my recommendations with people interested in any of these locations.

In order to keep this blog positive, my posts will only be recommendations for the things I enjoy the most in life. The topics will vary between whatever subjects I am interested in at a certain time, and I will have 1-2 new posts per day.

I wish I could have started this project earlier while some of my memories were fresher in my mind, but it is better late than never. I hope that other people will have the chance to visit or experience things that I write about, and I hope that people will have a similar taste in life to myself!
