Youtube Video: Why Koi Fish Are So Expensive

One of my personal favorite channels on Youtube is Business Insider’s series called So Expensive. The episodes can vary a bit in length, but most episodes tend to be between 5-15 minutes. As its title suggests, each episode talks about a specific thing in the world, and why it is so expensive.

This particular video talks about why koi fish are so expensive. I knew that koi fish was a specialized industry, but I was not aware of how large of a scale it operates on. As you can see in the video, the most expensive koi ever sold was $1.8 million dollars. It is fascinating to learn more about the industry as a whole, and I think that it is an industry that most people know almost nothing about.

In just 5 minutes, you will be able to learn about the history of koi, what qualities make them so expensive, and how breeders are able to produce the type of koi that they want. Similar to how dogs were descended from wolves through careful selection from each litter, koi are evolving as they are being selected for certain traits and quality. This video and series are definitely one of my current favorites to watch on YouTube.

Hi,
This is a blog for myself (and hopefully others) to keep track of all of the places, restaurants, books, movies, etc. that I do not want to forget. I am a college student who has lived in the US, Asia, and Europe for extended periods of time; I am very lucky to have had these experiences, and I want to share my recommendations with people interested in any of these locations.

NONE of these posts are advertisements. I do not have any discount codes or promotions for anything I write about; however, this should be considered a positive because it means that everything I write about reflects my true feelings. In order to keep this blog positive, my posts will only be recommendations for the things I enjoy the most in life. The topics will vary between whatever subjects I am interested in at a certain time, and I will have 1-2 new posts per day.

I wish I could have started this project earlier while some of my memories were fresher in my mind, but it is better late than never. I hope that other people will have the chance to visit or experience things that I write about, and I hope that people will have a similar taste in life to myself!
