I do not remember when I first heard about weighted blankets. However, I often have trouble sleeping, so I am always looking for things to improve my sleep quality.
This particular weighted blanket is from Costco, and it is the only one I have ever had (so I cannot personally recommend any others). I do not know what the differences are between other weighted blankets, but I am sure they all work similarly. I personally like the feeling of a weighted blanket, and I think having it on me helps me feel more relaxed and tired (although I do not know whether this is a placebo or not).
The one downside of buying a weighted blanket is that there is no way to really test whether you like it or not, other than to buy and use it. I am sure there are plenty of people who would not like the feeling of having extra weight on them while they sleep, but it is hard to know without actually using one.
If you are already satisfied with your sleeping habits and you do not need an extra assistance, then I would recommend against buying a weighted blanket. However, if you are like myself, and will try anything to help you sleep, I would recommend giving a weighted blanket a try. It is not a sleeping cure, but maybe it can give you a little peace of mind and make you more comfortable when trying to fall asleep.
