Satay Inn is one of my favorite restaurants in Hong Kong. I mentioned it briefly in one of my previous posts, but it is deserving of its own post. It is a Singaporean restaurant in Hong Kong, and they are known for their incredible Hainan Chicken.
Hainan Chicken seems like a simple dish, but I think it’s very difficult to make a good one. Basically, it is a poached chicken served with rice that has been seasoned with the flavors from the chicken. On the side, it often comes with a chili sauce and a ginger sauce. The key to a good Hainan Chicken is that the meat has to be moist and the skin has to be good; both of these are executed perfectly at Satay Inn. The plating of the dish is also extremely nice (look at the picture above as an example).
The Hainan Chicken at Satay Inn is somewhere between 150 HKD-400 HKD (between $20-50), depending on which one you order. This is expensive compared to the prices in Singapore/on the street in Asia, but the quality makes up for it.
Apparently, Satay Inn is also known for their laksa. While I am not the biggest laksa fan, it would probably be good for those who enjoy eating it. I would definitely try multiple dishes at Satay Inn, but just make sure you get the Hainan Chicken.
Satay Inn is located at the bottom of the City Garden Hotel, which is near the North Point Station. This is only about a 15 minute MTR ride away from the city, so it is very convenient if you are already in Hong Kong Island.
If you are in Hong Kong soon, definitely be sure to give Satay Inn a try.
This is a blog for myself (and hopefully others) to keep track of all of the places, restaurants, books, movies, etc. that I do not want to forget. I am a college student who has lived in the US, Asia, and Europe for extended periods of time; I am very lucky to have had these experiences, and I want to share my recommendations with people interested in any of these locations.
NONE of these posts are advertisements. I do not have any discount codes or promotions for anything I write about; however, this should be considered a positive because it means that everything I write about reflects my true feelings. In order to keep this blog positive, my posts will only be recommendations for the things I enjoy the most in life. The topics will vary between whatever subjects I am interested in at a certain time, and I will have 1-2 new posts per day.
I wish I could have started this project earlier while some of my memories were fresher in my mind, but it is better late than never. I hope that other people will have the chance to visit or experience things that I write about, and I hope that people will have a similar taste in life to myself!
