Best Golf Courses in Honolulu: Kapolei Golf Course

In Honolulu now, golf courses are just starting to reopen. Most of the courses reopened on May 1st, although there are some new restrictions in place. Honolulu has some great golf courses, although there is a huge difference in price between whether you are a Hawaii resident or not.

Kapolei Golf Course is one of my favorite golf courses on the island. It is super well maintained, and has a great course layout as well. It is not super challenging like other courses such as Ko’olau, but it is not easy either. It is a par 72, and the yardage ranges from 5400-7000 yards depending on which tee box you play from.

As I said before, the difference in price is huge for residents vs. non-residents. At Kapolei, non-resident rates are $185, while residents are $75. If you can wait until twilight, these rates go down to $130 and $50 respectively. This is normal in Hawaii, as non-residents can expect to pay about 2.5x as much as residents.

If you do have the chance to come to Honolulu though, and are really looking for a great golf course to play, I would recommend Kapolei as one of my top choices. The carts are nice (they have the new carts with the GPS tracking), the course is well-designed to be both fun and challenging, and the greens/fairways are some of the best maintained on the island. Also, as you can see in the above photo, there is great scenery, and it is one of the nicest looking courses in Hawaii.

Kapolei Golf Course Recommendation Rating: 4

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
