Blue light glasses are special glasses that help to block the blue light that is emitted from your computer, phone, tablet, etc. They are relatively new, but I started wearing them about 3 years ago or so. I have to look at screens a lot for school (and leisure activities), especially since I am at home so much now; this is really bad for your eyes, but there is nothing I can really do about it. Other than trying to rest my eyes whenever possible (following the 20/20/20 rule), or taking long breaks, there is not much I can do to get myself away from a screen.
However, I have noticed that when I wear my blue light glasses, my eyes get a lot less tired throughout the day. It is still not good to look at a screen for too long, but I feel a noticeable difference for when I am wearing them vs. when I am not. Since it is a relatively new product, there has not been that much research done on it to see its actual effects. There are websites that site studies showing it helps, while others saying it has no effect at all. At this point, I do not think anyone really knows what the long-term benefits are, if any.
I would first conduct your own research and see if it is something you would like to check out. From what I know, I do not think there are any downsides from wearing them (it just depends if there are actually really any benefits). Anecdotally speaking though, I personally think they do help at least a little bit.
There are many different types of blue light glasses out there, and I think that some of them have a stronger filter than others. I would recommend getting the ones with the strongest filter; although the ones I have look really weird and I would never wear them out in public (I cannot find the model online as they were given to me by a friend). Still, the ones I have are super orange, and they work better from ones that I have had in the past.
They are typically somewhere between $10-50, so they are not too expensive. If you are working from home a lot or are constantly looking at screens all day, I would at least recommend giving them a try. If they can reduce eye fatigue even a little, I would say they are well worth wearing.
This is a blog for myself (and hopefully others) to keep track of all of the places, restaurants, books, movies, etc. that I do not want to forget. I am a college student who has lived in the US, Asia, and Europe for extended periods of time; I am very lucky to have had these experiences, and I want to share my recommendations with people interested in any of these locations.
NONE of these posts are advertisements. I do not have any discount codes or promotions for anything I write about; however, this should be considered a positive because it means that everything I write about reflects my true feelings. In order to keep this blog positive, my posts will only be recommendations for the things I enjoy the most in life. The topics will vary between whatever subjects I am interested in at a certain time, and I will have 1-2 new posts per day.
I wish I could have started this project earlier while some of my memories were fresher in my mind, but it is better late than never. I hope that other people will have the chance to visit or experience things that I write about, and I hope that people will have a similar taste in life to myself!
