Best Restaurants to Eat at in Honolulu: Junpuu

Junpuu is a ramen restaurant in Hawaii that I really enjoy; although their ramen is good, my favorite dish is actually their char siu quesadilla. I have not really had this dish anywhere else (and unfortunately, I could not find any good picture of it online), but it is a great dish. Basically, it is a Japanese take on a quesadilla; using char siu as the meat, it tastes like a fusion betweeen Japanese food and Mexican food. Overall, it is delicious, and one I would definitely recommend getting (even if it sounds a bit unusual).

Junpuu also has ramen, curry, katsu sandwiches, etc., and it is all reasonably priced. The dishes are anywhere between $10-15. The location is a bit weird, as it is located next to a bunch of doctor’s and medical offices; I think people who work nearby are the main customers of the restaurant.

It is very unfortunate that they can’t get any foot traffic right now because of the coronavirus, but they were open for takeout last week. Also, once the lockdowns and restrictions are lifted, hopefully it will return back to normal for Junpuu.

If you live in Hawaii or are ever visiting Honolulu, I would definitely recommend giving Junpuu a try; you can order the ramen (which is good, but I wouldn’t say it’s worth its own special trip for), but definitely make sure you give the quesadilla a try as well.

Junpuu Recommendation Rating: 3

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
