The Be Focused – Focus Timer for Mac is a really great application to have. I mostly use it when I am studying, and I need to be productive for a certain amount of time.
It is different from your typical timer that you would use on your phone because it automatically sets for 25 minutes; then after 25 minutes, you get a 5 minute break, and after four 25 minute sessions, you get a longer, 15 minute break. Apparently, this is a really common method that has been shown to be really productive.
Using the app really forces me to bear down and be focused for 25 minutes, and then I can take a quick break. Also, it has a progress bar, so it shows you how many 25 minute sessions you have completed for that day. At the end of a day, if I can have 6-7 sessions completed, then I know I put in a good 3-4 hours of quality studying.
As many people probably know, the mind takes a significant amount of time to get back on track once you go off topic; this means that you want to be as constantly productive on a specific topic as you can be, and avoid distractions such as watching YouTube, going on Instagram, etc. I think trying to avoid distractions was the main purpose of the developers making this app.
Overall, this app is nothing sophisticated, but it just works. I can see significant differences in my productivity for when I am using the app vs. when I am not. If you have focusing issues, I would definitely recommend giving it a chance.

I am a college student who has lived in the US, Asia, and Europe for extended periods of time; I am very lucky to have had these experiences, and I want to share my recommendations with people interested in any of these locations.

I wish I could have started this project earlier while some of my memories were fresher in my mind, but it is better late than never. I hope that other people will have the chance to visit or experience things that I write about, and I hope that people will have a similar taste in life to myself!
