Recently, I got the Ultimate Ears BOOM 3 Speaker, and it was a worthwhile investment. I mostly listen to use it to podcasts, but it is also good for listening to music as well. As you can see above, there are also plenty of color schemes to choose from, so you can choose the color that best matches your personality!

I bought the speaker because it was waterproof and had great reviews from WIRED (it was the #1 overall recommended speaker). I got mine on sale from Best Buy for $79.99, but it is now back to its original price of $149.99 on most sites. I do not think I would pay $149.99, but if it goes back on sale for under $100, I would highly recommend buying it.

It is called the BOOM 3 because it can get really loud, and the sound volume definitely lives up to its name. Also, the speaker is waterproof, which is great if you are planning on using it at the beach, in the shower, etc. (although note that the speaker does not work underwater, even though this won’t break it).

I really enjoy carrying the speaker because it is a shape that’s easy to carry, and it is definitely very portable and durable; it is also supposed to be drop-proof from most reasonable heights, so I would not worry about bringing this speaker anywhere.

I would not consider myself an audiophile by any stretch, but the sound quality is plenty good for my untrained ears. Overall, it definitely has significantly better volume and sound quality than cheaper speakers I have had before, so if you are willing to pay more for it, it is worth the price (if you need the extra functionality). However, once again, I would recommend waiting a little bit if possible for it to go on sale.
