Best TV Channels to Subscribe to: Rakuten Viki

If you have a Roku or any other smart TV stick at home, you should definitely add the Rakuten Viki channel to your list. It is home to a large number of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese TV shows, and it is free to watch (although there are some ads you have to watch).

Also, the great thing about Rakuten Viki is that all of the shows on it have English subtitles, so it is incredibly useful if you are trying to learn an Asian language. In addition to having English subtitles, most of the shows are also really entertaining shows that you cannot find anywhere else.

One example of a great show that is on Rakuten Viki is my previously recommended Criminolgist Himura and Mystery Writer Arisugawa. Still, I have watched many shows on Viki, and they all seem to be high quality; also, they have a star rating system which is really helpful to find shows you may like.

Rakuten is a large e-commerce platform in Japan (you can think of it as the Amazon of Japan). If you think you have heard of it before, you may have seen Rakuten’s logo on the jerseys of the Golden State Warriors. They have many other things besides just Viki, but I have never actually used any of it.

If you are tired of watching American shows, or are just a fan of watching Asian TV shows in general, be sure to give Rakuten Viki a look. It is probably the best (legal) channel to watch Asian dramas on!

Rakuten Viki Recommendation Rating: 4

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
