Best TV Shows to Watch on Netfix: Jimmy

Jimmy: The True Story of a True Idiot, is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched; however, it may not be a show for everyone.

You should watch the first episode of Jimmy, and if you like it, you will love the rest of the show; however, after the first episode, you will also definitely be able to tell if this style of humor is not for you. Some of the jokes are very crude, and it could be offputting for certain viewers.

The show is based on the life of Jimmy Onishi, a Japanese comedian; I have never heard of him, but if even 10% of the show is true, he has had an incredibly interesting life. Also, Akiyoshi Nakao, the actor who plays Jimmy, does an incredible acting job. The character is super difficult to play, but Nakao pulls it off effortlessly.

The show also touches upon Onishi’s relationship with his mentor, Sanma Akashiya. This character development ensures that it is not just a comedy; there is actual emotion and a plot to the story as well.

There are only 9 episodes in the series, but I wish there were more; each episode is 45 minutes to an hour, but all 9 were extremely funny in my opinion. The show is only getting 6.4/10 on IMBD, so the humor is not for everyone; still, if you have similar taste in shows to me, I think this will be one of your favorites.

Jimmy Recommendation Rating: 4.5

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
