I went to Restaurant Steirereck this past winter when I was in Vienna, Austria. I really enjoyed Vienna as a city, and once travel begins again, I would recommend taking a trip there if you have the opportunity.

Since I was by myself in Vienna, I thought that I would try to see if I could get into some good restaurants there. Restaurant Steirereck is rated as one of the best in Austria, and it just happened that I was able to get a reservation for 1 on one of the days I was there. I know that it is normally a very difficult restaurant to get a reservation at, so I would recommend booking well in advance.

Steirereck is rated as one of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, and it is officially rated as #16 in the world as of 2019. It is also a 2-Michelin starred restaurant, so the atmosphere and food is really good. I went for lunch, but it was still not cheap; I would recommend this to be your fancy meal if you are ever in Vienna.

Two things that stood out to me the most at Steirereck were the bread cart (it had around 50 different breads or so and plenty of different butters/cheeses), as well as the dessert. For dessert, they brought down a bee hive to show me the honey that they would be using in it. They also let me choose which type of honey I would like to get (from different kind of bees). While these may sound kind of gimmicky, it is a really cool experience to have in person, and it just adds to the atmopshere/ambiance.

Overall, the food, the service, and the ambiance were all great, and I would love to have the chance to go back again. It is definitely worth a look, but be sure to book well in advance!
