HBO Max is the newest streaming service to have been released, and it is a really strong option. The only drawback is that it is not available on Roku or Amazon streaming sticks at the moment, which is a downside (but one that I expect will get solved soon enough). It has been like this since it’s launch on May 27th though, so the wait is getting frustrating.

Still, the amount of content that HBO Max has is incredible. I would say that there is now a clear top 3 in the streaming services (Netflix, HBO Max, and Disney +) in my opinion. Netflix is the best overall streaming service, but HBO Max and Disney + also have their pluses. I would say the content quality is the highest on HBO Max, while Netflix has the most variety, and Disney + has the most hit films.

HBO Max has an incredible variety of shows and movies. For example, it has all of the classic HBO shows such as Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, Silicon Valley, etc. However, it also has Studio Ghibli movies, all of the Harry Potter movies, Friends, and many more great shows/movies. It has an incredible diversity in terms of the type of material available, which is very important for a streaming service to stay fresh. Also, there are HBO Max originals that have already come out, or are coming out in the near future.

HBO Max is definitely in the top tier for streaming services in terms of price as well, as it is $14.99/month. Still, compared to cable, this is a great price, and I think it is well worth the price.

HBO Max Recommendation Rating: 4

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for

It looks like it could have been released within the past couple of years, and it has held up well over time (also, similar to Spirited Away, I think the picture quality may have been upgraded since it was moved to HBO Max).
