Best TV Shows to Watch on HBO Max: Game of Thrones

I am sure this may seem like a controversial recommendation, but Game of Thrones is one of the most popular TV shows of all time for a reason. Unless you have been living under a rock or do not watch any TV, you must know what Game of Thrones is.

Based on the series by George R.R. Martin, it is HBO’s most popular TV show, and maybe the most discussed TV show of all time. While it was running from 2011-2019, there were so many people always discussing the latest updates and scenes. I didn’t watch the show live while it was on TV, but I have watched all of the episodes. About a year ago or so, I watched all of the 8 seasons in a couple of weeks.

While I, like many people, was extremely disappointed by the ending of the show, that was mainly because I so thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the show. The first 6 seasons were so good that it was sad to see seasons 7 and 8 fall off from these high standards. Still, if you have made it to season 7 and 8, I don’t think you will regret watching the first 6 seasons.

Game of Thrones has one of the most complex storylines ever created in TV history, and it takes a while to fully understand and get immersed in the GOT world. Whether it is the Lannisters, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), the Starks, etc., there are just so many different families and characters.

A lot of people I know do not like GOT because of the gratuitous sex scenes, excessive violence, etc. I can see how GOT is a polarizing show, and you will be able to tell whether it is a show for you by the end of the first season (or by the first episode if you super strongly dislike it). I am definitely a person who loved the show, and although it took me a while to watch it all, it was worth it in the end (except for the ending!).

Game of Thrones Recommendation Rating: 5

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
