I am not the biggest breakfast fan, and most days I don’t eat breakfast at all. However, there is one really good breakfast place by my house, and it is called Moena Cafe.

Moena Cafe has all of the traditional breakfast items like pancakes, benedicts, scrambled eggs, etc.; however, I have never ordered any of them myself. When I go to Moena Cafe, I always get the same dish, which is the Short Rib Loco Moco with fried rice (the picture above, except with fried rice instead of white rice).

For those of you who are not from Hawaii, a loco moco is normally a hamburger with eggs and gravy on top of rice. However, Moena Cafe’s loco moco is different, as it has short ribs instead of a hamburger; also, you have the option to get fried rice (which you 100% should if you ever go!). It is an excellent combination, and it is so good that I never feel compelled to order anything else.

Like I said earlier, I am not a breakfast fan, so I wouldn’t say I’m an expert on breakfast places in Hawaii. However, compared to some of the most famous breakfast places in Hawaii such as Cinnamon’s and Eggs n’ Things, I would much prefer Moena Cafe. Even if it weren’t so close to my house, I would still choose to go to Moena Cafe over other breakfast places in Honolulu.

Moena Cafe Recommendation Rating: 3.5

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
