Pine&Crane is a Taiwanese restaurant located in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. I really liked the design of the restaurant (although it is not the most conducive to social distancing), and the food was excellent as well.
While Pine&Crane is traditionally a Taiwanese restaurant, they do have some other Chinese dishes as well. For example, as you can see in the picture above, they have Shanghai style pan fried pork buns. As I have mentioned in previous posts, this is one of my favorite Chinese dishes, so it is great that they have it.
Still, their speciality is their Taiwanese dishes, and I thought those were good as well. Some of my favorite dishes include the beef roll, spicy shrimp wontons, wonton noodle soup, etc. Although the dishes have slightly different tastes from those at Din Tai Fung, the quality is similar.
Pine&Crane is one of the most popular restaurants in LA, as it has over 2200 reviews with 4.5 stars on Yelp, which is a good sign for its quality. I haven’t been back to the restaurant for a while, but the last time I went it was packed, and I did have to wait for a bit. Also, as I mentioned before, I am not sure how they are operating now with COVID-19, but if it is still open I would recommend trying it out (parking is difficult to find in the area though!).
Pine&Crane Recommendation Rating: 3
1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
3: Something worth prioritizing if interested
4: Something worth making time to check out
5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
