Osen Izakaya is a Japanese restaurant in Silverlake, and it has both great sushi and traditional dishes. According to an article that I read on it, the chef of the restaurant used to be a former chef of TAO in Hollywood, as well as being involved in NOBU in Hawaii. These are both impressive professional experiences, and demonstrate his cooking skills.

Some dishes I remember getting at the restaurant include the blue crab roll, spicy tuna on rice, and the pork belly yakitori. The menu is so big though, with plenty of options no matter what you like. They have both an extensive sushi and yakitori menu, and I remember all of the dishes we ordered being pretty strong in terms of quality.

Another thing I enjoyed about Osen was that they had a ton of daily specials. It has been a while since I last ate there, so I do not remember exactly what specials were offered; however, they had maybe 10-12 items that were in addition to their already big regular menu.

The restaurant was relatively small, and as I mentioned before in my Pine & Crane post, it is hard to find parking in Silverlake. I can remember having to circle around for a couple times in order to find parking, as all of the stalls in front of the restaurant were taken.

I found this restaurant on Yelp a couple of years ago when I was in LA for college, and it still has managed to keep up high ratings. As of the time of writing, it currently has 828 reviews with 4 1/2 stars on Yelp, so be sure to check it out!
