Movies: Enola Holmes (Netflix)

Enola Holmes is a movie on Netflix, and it is an adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes series. It has been the #1 watched thing on Netflix in the US for the past couple of days, and it has a great cast including Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, and Sam Claflin.
While I did enjoy watching the movie, and I would recommend watching it if you are looking for something to watch on Netflix, I would not say that it was one of my favorite movies ever. I am a big fan of Sherlock Holmes adaptations, and I have watched almost all of the major ones (Sherlock, Miss Sherlock, Elementary, Sherlock Holmes, etc). From my own personal experience, I have always found the TV shows to be more entertaining than the movies, as I think it allows for a lot more character development since they are solving more cases. This holds true for Enola Holmes, as I would rather watch the BBC Sherlock and Miss Sherlock over it.
Still, I thought there were some bright points to Enola Holmes. I enjoyed watching the movie because it was not your typical Sherlock Holmes story; in fact, the main character is actually Enola Holmes, Sherlock Holmes’ sister. This puts Sherlock and Mycroft in supporting roles, which changes the dynamic a bit. While I thought the plot was a little slow and lacking in some places, the casting in the movie was really strong.
Overall, I think there was some clear social messaging in the show, and I think it was a movie that is relevant for the current political climate. Also, I think that for Netflix, it is great to have a new theatre quality movie that people can watch while at home in quarantine.

Hi,
This is a blog for myself (and hopefully others) to keep track of all of the places, restaurants, books, movies, etc. that I do not want to forget. I am a college student who has lived in the US, Asia, and Europe for extended periods of time; I am very lucky to have had these experiences, and I want to share my recommendations with people interested in any of these locations.
NONE of these posts are advertisements. I do not have any discount codes or promotions for anything I write about; however, this should be considered a positive because it means that everything I write about reflects my true feelings. In order to keep this blog positive, my posts will only be recommendations for the things I enjoy the most in life. The topics will vary between whatever subjects I am interested in at a certain time, and I will have 1-2 new posts per day.
I wish I could have started this project earlier while some of my memories were fresher in my mind, but it is better late than never. I hope that other people will have the chance to visit or experience things that I write about, and I hope that people will have a similar taste in life to myself!
