Apps: Sleep Cycle

Sleep is one of the most important things for everyone, but it is also difficult to monitor and track. Most people have some sort of sleep routine, but it is difficult to know the quality of your sleep and understand why you are tired. This is the problem that Sleep Cycle sets out to solve.

Sleep Cycle is an app for the IPhone, and it offers both a free and a premium version. The premium version is $29.99 per year, but I personally just use the free version. The premium version offers more detailed analysis of your sleep, but I think the free version is good enough.

Sleep Cycle gives you a sleep quality number each night, to show how your sleep was. It also is able to track what time you went to sleep and what time you woke up at, which is useful if you are trying to keep a regular sleeping pattern. Finally, Sleep Cycle also gives reports showing your sleep cycle, and at which points during the night you had your REM sleep, regular sleep, etc. Overall, it is really useful, but even more so if you have an Apple Watch (it is more accurate when it is tracking you through the Watch rather than from your phone).

My personal favorite feature about Sleep Cycle though, is a timed wake-up alarm. You can choose what interval of time you want to wake up from; the app recommends you set it for a 30 minute time period (for example, if you want to wake up at 5:45, it will wake you up between 5:15 and 5:45). The app uses your sleep data to determine when you are closest to being awake during that 30 minute time period, and it will wake you up then. I think this feature is really helpful, as I don’t feel as tired and groggy when I wake up with a traditional alarm. This is my favorite feature, and it is offered in the free version of the app, so be sure to check it out if you are interested!

Hi,
This is a blog for myself (and hopefully others) to keep track of all of the places, restaurants, books, movies, etc. that I do not want to forget. I am a college student who has lived in the US, Asia, and Europe for extended periods of time; I am very lucky to have had these experiences, and I want to share my recommendations with people interested in any of these locations.

NONE of these posts are advertisements. I do not have any discount codes or promotions for anything I write about; however, this should be considered a positive because it means that everything I write about reflects my true feelings. In order to keep this blog positive, my posts will only be recommendations for the things I enjoy the most in life. The topics will vary between whatever subjects I am interested in at a certain time, and I will have 1-2 new posts per day.

I wish I could have started this project earlier while some of my memories were fresher in my mind, but it is better late than never. I hope that other people will have the chance to visit or experience things that I write about, and I hope that people will have a similar taste in life to myself!
