Caution, Hazardous Housewife is the latest Japanese TV show that I finished on Rakuten Viki. The show is about a former spy who is trying to transition to life as a housewife. After faking her death, the main character, Nami Isayama, has been able to settle down and live in a comfortable neighborhood with her new husband. However, she quickly realizes that her life is kind of boring now, and she wants to find some way to get back the feeling of her action filled past.
Watching the show was funny because the main actor, Hidetoshi Nishijima, was the main character in the show I had just watched previously, 99 Days with the Superstar. In this show though, he played a completely different type of character, so it was hard to separate him from his old role. The Japanese TV world is interesting because it is pretty small, so once you have watched a bunch of TV series, you start to see the same actors/actresses in a bunch of different roles. In fact, the 4 main actors/actresses in this show were all previous leads in other shows I have watched.
Hazardous Housewife may sound like a weird premise, but I have learned to just trust the Rakuten Viki ratings, as they are pretty accurate. Hazardous Housewife got a 9.3/10, and anything over 9/10 normally means it is a show worth watching. The show ends on a bit of a mysterious note, but I later found out that they are going to be making a movie soon (which will be a continuation of where the show left off). It is supposed to come out soon, and once it does, I will for sure be watching it!
Cautious, Hazardous Housewife Recommendation Rating: 4
1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
3: Something worth prioritizing if interested
4: Something worth making time to check out
5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
