While The Athletic is still my go to site for sports news and sports articles, ESPN+ is the other sports subscription service that I have. ESPN+ has multiple pricing options, with one at $5.99/month, and the other at $49.99/year. Since ESPN is owned by Disney, there is also an option to have a bundle including Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ for $12.99/month. In my opinion, I think this is one of the best deals in streaming that you can find anywhere.
ESPN+ has multiple functions; first of all, it allows you to read premium articles from some of ESPN’s writers. These articles are normally more in depth and targeted towards hardcore sports fans, and they cover a wide range of topics that may not always be discussed on regular ESPN.
However, ESPN+ also allows you to watch some live sporting events that you couldn’t otherwise. Most of the time, these are sporting events that are not shown on other channels, as they are either smaller events or more niche sports. If you want to watch sports like tennis or smaller college football games, ESPN+ may be the only channel to watch it on.
ESPN+ cannot replace your typical cable network, but it does have some additional events that can enhance your viewing experience. In my opinion, for $5.99/month or as part of the larger bundle, it is worth it for any sports fan. Even if you are only using it a couple of times a week to read articles or watch sports, it costs less than $0.20/day, which is a reasonable price to pay.
ESPN+ Recommendation Rating: 4
1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
3: Something worth prioritizing if interested
4: Something worth making time to check out
5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
