Unnatural is a Japanese forensic mystery show that aired in 2018 on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting Station).
In previous posts, I mentioned both Pretty Proofreader and Criminologist Himura and Mystery Writer Arisugawa as two shows that I enjoyed watching. The female lead in Unnatural Death is Satomi Ishihara, who also plays the lead role in Pretty Proofreader. The male lead in Unnatural Death is Masataka Kubota, who played Arisugawa in Criminologist Himura and Mystery Writer Arisugawa. I enjoyed watching both of these stars again in new roles.
Unnatural Death is a crime show, in which the main characters work for a government agency called UDI Lab. The lab is in charge of doing autopsies and working on investigations with the police for major cases within the Tokyo region. The format of the show is similar to CSI for US shows.
The first 5 episodes or so are an introduction of the characters, while the last 5 episodes begin to revolve around one major case (it involves someone who works at UDI Lab). I would consider this show on a very similar level to Criminologist Himura and Mystery Writer Arisugawa, and I really enjoyed watching both.
Unfortunately, this show can be difficult to find, as it is not available on the traditional stations I watch such as Amazon Prime and Rakuten Viki. However, if you can find the show anywhere online, I would highly recommend watching all 10 episodes!
