I wrote about the brilliance of The Office in a previous post, but I would like to go into a bit more detail about some of my favorite episodes. In total, there are 188 episodes of The Office; I plan on sharing about 10-15 of the best episodes out of these 188.
My personal favorite episode from The Office is Scott’s Tots. This is episode 12 in season 6, and I found the entire episode hilarious. However, while I was doing research for this article, I learned that it is not everyone’s favorite episode, and that some people actually hate it. There is even a reddit post with the name “Seen The Office like 5 Times, but only Scott’s Tots Twice”. Therefore, while I found the episode super funny, I guess the humor is not for everyone.
In the episode, Michael Scott has to revisit a commitment that he made 10 years prior. Apparently, he promised a group of elementary school students that if they tried hard enough and were able to get into college, he would pay for all of their education. He made this promise because he truly believed that one day he would be a successful businessman who could afford to uphold this promise.
In the episode, Michael goes to see the group of kids that he made the promise to, and learns that all of them have gotten into college. It is in this encounter that one of the most cringeworthy, but also funny scenes takes place. You should watch the episode yourself if you are interested, but the kids sing Michael a song with the lyrics “Hey Mr. Scott, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do make our dreams come true”. You can watch the entire scene here on Youtube. It is the scene I remember the most distinctively from the entire series.
Humor and comedy are very subjective, so the same scene that is so funny to me may not be very funny to others. However, if you have similar taste in humor to me, season 6 episode 12 is a must-watch episode of The Office!
