Leilehua Golf Course is a golf course located next to Wheeler Army Airfield. Leilehua used to only be open for military members, but recently they have opened it up to the public (at least for walk-ons).
Leilehua Golf Course is a nice course located on the West Side of Oahu, and it is a bit different from other courses on Oahu. Leilehua has a bunch of trees, and some holes look like they are in the middle of a forest; also, there are no water hazards on the entire course, which is unusual for a Hawaii golf course.
Leilehua is a really good course if you like to walk, as it is flat and the holes are not too far apart from each other. Some of the holes are a bit long though, with the course being about 7000 yards from the furthest tees. The course rating is 73.9 with a slope rating of 129, so it is one of the more difficult courses on Oahu.
While Leilehua is not as nice and well kept as Ko’Olina and Kapolei, it is cheaper (especially if you walk, which you cannot do at the private courses). If you are walking, it costs about $45 to play, which is a good deal for golfing in Hawaii. Just like many other courses on Oahu though, it is far from downtown Hawaii, so unless you are staying on the West Side of the island it will be a bit of a drive.
