Sushi burritos are almost exactly what they sound like, which is sushi ingredients being formed into a burrito like shape. Up Roll Cafe is a restaurant in Hawaii that specializes in sushi burritos, and it is a place that I have started going to a lot recently.

Ordering Up Roll Cafe’s sushi burritos is similar to ordering a burger at the Counter, in which you choose the base, rice, ingredients, and sauce that you want to include in your burrito. Each ingredient costs a certain amount, and then they put all of the ingredients together in a cool looking sushi burrito. If you don’t want to have to create your own though, they also have pre-made combinations that you can choose from.

For proteins, Up Roll has choices such as salmon, tuna, crab, shrimp, etc. My personal favorite is the crab, as it is real crab (as opposed to imitation). I then normally add other ingredients such as jalapeños, onions, fried garlic, masago habanero (this one is really good). Up Roll has about 25 different toppings, so you can create exactly the kind of sushi burrito you are looking for. You can check out their full menu here.

I think sushi burritos have become more popular throughout the US, and I know there are other restaurants on the mainland that offer them. However, the quality of Up Roll Cafe is pretty good, and if you have been meaning to try a sushi burrito, it is worth checking it out!
