Best Japanese TV Shows to Watch: Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan is the first anime that I ever watched, as normally I prefer live-action TV shows compared to animation. However, I had heard so many great things about Attack on Titan from so many different people that I figured it was worth giving it a try.

The first time I tried watching Attack on Titan, I only made it through two episodes before stopping. However, the second time I watched it I made myself commit to watching 5 episodes before deciding; this turned out to be a wise decision, as after watching through episode 5 I didn’t stop again.

I enjoyed watching Attack on Titan much more than I thought I would, and I think this is for several reasons. First of all, Attack on Titan has some amazing fight scenes that feel so realistic and dramatic. A lot of these fight scenes involve two characters in particular, Levi and Mikasa, who are my two favorite characters from the show. Even though Attack on Titan is an anime, it is really easy to relate to the characters and grow to like them over time.

Even if you are not an anime fan normally (or if you have never watched one before), I think Attack on Titan is a great place to start. To me, it feels like an animated version of Game of Thrones (in terms of storyline and pace), and the characters are just as memorable and iconic. It may be tough finding other anime’s that compare in quality after you finish, but be sure to watch all 4 seasons of Attack on Titan (the final part of season 4 is coming out relatively soon!)
