If you are looking for a new sitcom to watch, Community is a great one to start. After finishing watching The Office, I was looking to find another sitcom with a relatively similar type of vibe, and Community fits the bill.
Community started in 2009, and many members of its cast have gone on to much bigger heights because of the show. As you can see in the picture above, it starred now big names such as Donald Glover, Joel McHale, Allison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Ken Jeong, Danny Pudi, etc. Community also starred Chevy Chase (he was a main character in the first 4 seasons) and had a number of guest appearances from other prominent actors and actresses.
Community is about a group of friends who meet at a community college, and the experiences that they have together. The main characters all start of being members of the same Spanish study group, but quickly expand into something much more. While each of the characters have their individual high points/low points, it is really the entire group that makes Community special.
Unfortunately, significant characters such as Chevy Chase and Donald Glover leave the show before it is finished (in Season 4 and Season 5 respectively), and the show does take a hit without them. There is also a Season 6 of Community, but this was made by Yahoo rather than NBC (and it loses even more main characters), so I did not watch this one.
Community is exceptional for the first 3 seasons, and I would highly recommend watching those; seasons 4 and 5 are also worth watching, but just be warned that they are not as strong as the first 3 seasons.
Community Seasons 1-3 Recommendation Rating: 4
Community Seasons 4-5 Recommendation Rating: 2
This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:
1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
3: Something worth prioritizing if interested
4: Something worth making time to check out
5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
This is a blog for myself (and hopefully others) to keep track of all of the places, restaurants, books, movies, etc. that I do not want to forget. I am a college student who has lived in the US, Asia, and Europe for extended periods of time; I am very lucky to have had these experiences, and I want to share my recommendations with people interested in any of these locations.
NONE of these posts are advertisements. I do not have any discount codes or promotions for anything I write about; however, this should be considered a positive because it means that everything I write about reflects my true feelings. In order to keep this blog positive, my posts will only be recommendations for the things I enjoy the most in life. The topics will vary between whatever subjects I am interested in at a certain time, and I will have 1-2 new posts per day.
I wish I could have started this project earlier while some of my memories were fresher in my mind, but it is better late than never. I hope that other people will have the chance to visit or experience things that I write about, and I hope that people will have a similar taste in life to myself!
