Although the first season of Lupin just came out in January 2021, season 2 of Lupin was just recently released. It is an extremely quick turnaround for the show, but fortunately the second season lives up to the high expectations set by the first one.
Whereas season 1 of Lupin is more about developing and introducing the characters, season 2 of Lupin is focused on one storyline, which is the rivalry between Lupin and Pellegrini. Also, since season 1 left on a huge cliffhanger, season 2 immediately begins to resolve it.
What I enjoyed most about season 1 of Lupin were the mysteries and incredible showmanship of Lupin, and both of these remain in season 2. At first, I was a little bit disappointed with season 2 because it seemed to start off a bit slow, but by the third episode it really started to pick up again. Also, while the very first episode of Lupin is still my favorite, episodes 4 and 5 from season 2 were very close to matching it in terms of excitement and build up.
If you enjoyed watching season 1 of Lupin, season 2 is a great follow up and I would recommend watching it as soon as possible. If you have never even watched season 1 of Lupin, now is a great time to catch up since you will not be left hanging on the cliffhanger of season 1. There is also supposed to be a season 3, but the release date for it has not been announced (I don’t think they have even started filming yet)!
Lupin Season 2 Recommendation Rating: 4
This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:
1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
3: Something worth prioritizing if interested
4: Something worth making time to check out
5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
