I just finished watching The Office after 6 months of watching one episode a day, and I can definitely say it lived up to the hype. I finished it just in time though, as unfortunately The Office will be leaving Netflix on January 1st, 2021. If you want to watch all of the episodes and do not have a Peacock subscription (this is the new streaming platform it will be moving to), you will have to watch 188 episodes in 2 weeks. This comes out to about 4 hours of watching per day.
In honor of this great show, I plan on doing separate posts with all of my favorite episodes (about 15 or so). If you have already watched the first couple of seasons, you likely know most of the characters and can watch some of the later episodes without too much trouble.
Before watching The Office, I didn’t really know what to expect, but I had heard great things about it from a ton of friends. My previous favorite sitcom was The Big Bang Theory, and The Office ranks right up there with it (if not ahead of it). With characters like Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), Michael Scott (Steve Carell), Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner), Pam Halpert (Jenna Fischer), and many others, it is tough to top the quality and quantity of characters in The Office.
While The Office is a comedy, it has a great storyline. The character and relationship development is what really keeps the show going for such a long time, and the quality of episodes was high throughout (unlike Game of Thrones). The final couple of episodes are also incredible, so you will not be disappointed if you make it to the end. I cannot recommend The Office highly enough, and it is well worth the time you will put in watching it!
The Office Recommendation Rating: 5
This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:
1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
3: Something worth prioritizing if interested
4: Something worth making time to check out
5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
