Best Apps to Download: SwingU

Although I use an actual rangefinder (Callaway 200 Range Finder) to measure the distance when I golf, the SwingU app is an incredibly useful tool to have on the golf course.

The SwingU app has multiple features that are handy for any type of golfer. First of all, it has the image/layout of the hole, which you can use to plan out your shots beforehand. Also, if you do not have a rangefinder, SwingU has a distance feature which tells you how far it is to the front, middle, and back of the green.

While the distance functions are useful, I mostly use SwingU to track my scores. I didn’t really see the appeal in it at first (I like using a manual scorecard to keep track), but eventually the functionality of SwingU won me over. One reason SwingU is better than a manual scorecard is that it keeps track of all your scores over time, which allows you to build a handicap (and allows you to see if your scores are improving over time). SwingU also allows you to keep track of how many putts you took, as well as whether you hit the fairway or went left/right. This is useful data to see over time, as I like to see how I am putting and driving the ball during a round.

Although sometimes it can be a pain to have to look at my phone after each hole, I think putting in the time and effort to track everything with SwingU is very handy. Now I can just look at SwingU rather than having to try and dig up all of my old scorecards. If you are a golfer who is looking to keep track of your golf game, SwingU is definitely worth checking out!

SwingU Recommendation Rating: 4

This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
