Broke Da Mouth Grindz is one of the most popular restaurants in Kona, having over 1700 Yelp reviews and having been featured in the past on Guy Fieri’s show Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives. When I went to Kona the last time, I figured it was definitely a spot I had to hit on my trip.

Broke Da Mouth Grindz is an interesting mix of Korean, Filipino, and Hawaiian food. The most popular dish at Broke Da Mouth Grindz is definitely the garlic furikake chicken (you can also get a spicy version of it), and it was a great dish, albeit very heavy. Some other dishes I was able to try included the meat jun (one of the better ones I’ve had) and the braised beef short ribs (super tender).

The portions at Broke Da Mouth Grindz are very generous, and they have multiple options for what type of order you can create. I personally did a three choice mixed plate, which was $20 (pricey for a plate lunch, but worth a try). However, you can also do single options or two choice mixed plate for around $12-16 if you do not want so much food. It really depends on what you want to order at Broke Da Mouth Grindz, but whatever you choose to order will likely be enough food!

The line at Broke Da Mouth Grindz is really long, but it moved relatively fast when I went there. The line started from out the door, and from the time I started standing in line to when we got our food was about 35 minutes. On the website it says that you can call ahead to do takeout, but when I tried calling they were so busy that they were not even answering the phone line.

Broke Da Mouth Grindz Recommendation Rating: 4

This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
