Best YouTube Channels to Watch: So Expensive

So Expensive is a YouTube channel that is produced by Business Insider. So Expensive is one of my favorite channels to check out whenever I have 5 minutes or so, but can also be a channel that you watch all the episodes for in one go.

Each So Expensive episode talks about a specific product in the world and why it costs so much. The products include items such as real wasabi, black truffle, Persian Rugs, and championship chess sets. Some of the products are really famous items, while others are more obscure that only collectors in a certain industry may have heard of.

I really enjoy watching So Expensive because it helps me to understand the value of certain products (including those I do not see value in myself). While many know food items such as wasabi and black truffle are extremely expensive, the reasoning behind this price is not known. After watching So Expensive though, you will see the amount of work and labor that goes into producing and finding these products.

Even if you never have the opportunity to buy or try the products mentioned in So Expensive, it is so interesting to learn more about them and how the ultra-rich live. Everything comes with a cost, and it is rare that products are expensive just for the sake of being expensive (basically there is a reason for these high costs).

So Expensive Recommendation Rating: 4

This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
