I am not a big desserts person (apart from ice cream), but when I was in San Francisco recently I went to a donut shop called Mochill. Mochill is in the Japan Center Malls, and when I went there was a pretty long line (at least 50 people or so).

I decided to try Mochill because I had never had a mochi donut before and wanted to see what all the hype is about; Mochill has a bunch of options, but I chose to get the Cookies N’ Cream donut.

I think Mochill’s mochi donuts are better than a normal donut because they are a lot lighter, but also still really flavorful. The mochi donut itself was really good, and I think it is something you need to try (as it is hard to describe what makes it different from a normal donut). I also really enjoyed the cookies n’ cream frosting, as this was also light but super tasty.

While I wouldn’t get a mochi donut every time I go into the city, it is a nice change of pace and something worth trying out. Mochill is clearly a popular spot, but if you are willing to wait in line it does have some great mochi donuts!

Mochill Recommendation Rating: 4

This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
