Best Japanese TV Shows to Watch on Rakuten Viki: My Fair Prince

My Fair Prince is the latest Japanese drama I completed on Rakuten Viki. Apart from Dean Fujioka (one of the best Japanese actors around), My Fair Prince actually had a main cast of actors/actresses that I haven’t seen before in other shows.

My Fair Prince does have a romantic storyline, but it also had other aspects besides the main relationship. The main character in particular (played by Keisuke Watanabe) really develops throughout the show, as he goes from a guy getting beat up on the streets (because of a debt he could not pay) to an incredibly sharp design/business mind.

My Fair Prince is about a video game company (for a particular genre called Otome games) and the small team that comprises it. What started initially as a 2 person operation grew into a team of about 7, and the story goes into depth about the growth of the company (both from a personnel and game development).

In my opinion, the ending of My Fair Prince was too predictable and I wish that they would’ve changed it up. However, this is typical of most Japanese dramas, as they tend to keep pretty standard endings. Aside from the ending though, I really did enjoy watching the cast and story of my Fair Prince!

My Fair Prince Recommendation Rating: 3.5

This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:

1: Something worth checking out if you have time

2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone

3: Something worth prioritizing if interested

4: Something worth making time to check out

5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
