Since I was in Hawaii during quarantine during COVID-19, I found it extremely frustrating to try and buy crypto. All of the major websites such as Coinbase and Gemini kept blocking my account because of my Hawaii ID, which meant that I could not buy crypto unless I got a different state ID.
Recently though, the crypto exchange Kraken has begun to allow crypto purchases even for Hawaii residents. I only found out about this recently, and I wish that it could have been an option earlier (or maybe I just happened to miss it). However, it is better late than never, and Kraken is relatively easy to use.
On Kraken, you can deposit money from your bank account directly into your Kraken account. You can then buy crypto such as Ethereum and Bitcoin (whether for NFTs or as an investment). If you are trying to buy crypto to use for NFTs, you will need to wait 72 hours before you can withdraw it to your Metamask (or another crypto wallet).
Crypto is an extremely volatile asset, and if you are trying to buy crypto to use on NFTs it is even more risky (and requires more work and due diligence). However, if you feel that you have done the proper research and want to get involved in the space, Kraken is a great place to start!
Kraken Recommendation Rating: 5
This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:
1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
3: Something worth prioritizing if interested
4: Something worth making time to check out
5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
