Boku no Ita Jikan is a J-drama that is simultaneously uplifting and heartbreaking. Boku no Ita Jikan is one of the more emotional dramas that you will ever watch, and it is well worth your time.
Boku no Ita Jikan is a fictional drama about a man named Takuto Sawada, who at the beginning of the drama is a relatively normal Japanese salaryman. However, in the show he begins to experience some physical struggles, which he eventually figures out is caused by the terrible disease ALS.
For those who have never heard of ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease), it is one of the most debilitating diseases you can possibly get. There is no known cure for the disease, and it will eventually lead to paralysis (and the need to use a ventilator).
Throughout Boku no Ita Jikan, Takuto’s condition gradually worsens, yet his mood continues to improve (as he begins to see the beauty in life and appreciate the time he has left). This paradox is what makes the show great, even if it is emotional to watch for the viewer.
The main actor in the show (Haruma Miura) sadly committed suicide in real life, and knowing this fact made watching the show a bit strange. It is so unfortunate because he was an incredibly talented actor (as can be seen in this show), but his legacy lives on through performances like this.

1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
