Tony’s Pizza Napoletana is run by Tony Gemignani, who apparently is a 13-time World Pizza Champion. I am not sure what authority gives out the title of “World Pizza Champion”, but I am sure it is a competitive title to earn.
Tony’s Pizza Napoletana is located in Little Italy in San Francisco, and it was one of the better pizza restaurants I have been to since leaving Italy.
When I went to Tony’s Pizza Napoletana, I tried 3 pizzas; The Cal Italia, Uncle Vito, and Squash Blossom & Burrata. The Cal Italia and Uncle Vito were much better than the Squash Blossom & Burrata, with The Cal Italia being my definite favorite. The Cal Italia was interesting and not something I would normally order, as it had a fig preserve and balsamic reduction (not a combo I would normally try); however, it was a fantastic combination and something I would get again.
Looking at Tony’s Pizza Napoletana’s menu online, it is huge. They have so many different options of pizza and I would love to go back and try some more. Definitely take a look at their menu and see which pizzas you would want to order!
Tony’s Pizza Napoletana Recommendation Rating: 4
This post has now been updated to reflect a new ratings system that I have implemented, which is scored as follows:
1: Something worth checking out if you have time
2: Something that is a hit for some people, but not a must for everyone
3: Something worth prioritizing if interested
4: Something worth making time to check out
5: An absolute home run, worth going out of your way for
