Jo Koy: Comin’ in Hot is a special episode available on Netflix. It is a recording of a show that Koy did in Hawaii, and it has to be one of the best standup shows around.
I don’t watch a whole lot of standup comedy so I’m not the best judge of quality, but I thought Jo Koy: Comin’ in Hot was hilarious. As an Asian and being from Hawaii, a lot of the content was super relatable and funny. Koy is Filipino, so it is probably the most funny if you are a Filipino from Hawaii (as a lot of jokes are tailored for this demographic), but even if you are not the show is still great.
Of course, since Koy is a comedian a lot of the jokes he makes are not PC. However, comedians get a lot more leeway than normal people when joking about stereotypes and different races, as without these types of jokes they wouldn’t be able to create a show. I think Koy does a good job of making mostly harmless jokes that are still incredibly funny (and I hope he does not get “cancelled” in this touchy environment).
If you are looking for some laughs at home, definitely watch Jo Koy: Comin’ in Hot. The show is an hour, and there is never a dip in the performance quality.
