Soba Shingen is a restaurant in Hawaii that specializes in soba (as its name would suggest). Shingen’s menu is pretty similar to I-naba, but it has a bit more variety and offerings.
I had a lunch special ten-don and soba set, and it was about $16 or so. I was really impressed with Shingen, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I think that I-naba’s soba is better than Shingen’s soba, but that Shingen’s tempura is right on par with, if not better than I-naba. I really like I-naba, so it is a compliment for me to say Shingen is right up there with it.
Shingen also has a special type of soba called moringa soba, which is supposed to be a healthier version of normal soba. If you are more of an udon fan, they also have an option to order udon as well. I personally didn’t try the moringa soba nor the udon, but if I go back another time it is something I would consider.
I think it is a lot easier to get into Shingen than Inaba, as well as a bit easier to find parking. If you are ever looking for some soba/udon and want to try out a new restaurant, Shingen is definitely a good option to consider.
