For sports fans, it is the best time of the year again. On Thursday will be the official start of March Madness, and the best two days of the sporting year (when every single team in the tournament will play). This means that you only have one day left to fill out your brackets before they lock, and hope that this is the year you can win it all.
One incredible bracket challenge that is going on right now is called. the Degen Bracket Challenge; it is hosted by an NFT called Knights of Degen (which I happen to own 2 of), but it is free to enter the contest for anyone.
What makes this challenge different is that instead of just filling out a traditional bracket, you actually mint your bracket as an NFT. This NFT can then be sold on Opensea and transferred to other users (if your bracket starts off well, you could sell it for a high price and reduce your risk of it falling apart later). The prizes for the Degen Bracket Challenge are huge, with the first place bracket winning a collection of 44 NFTs (and counting) that together are worth a significant amount of ETH. While it is impossible to put an exact number on how much it is worth, I would guess the collection is conservatively worth at least 10 ETH (about 30k with current prices). The first, second, and third place brackets all receive different collections of NFTs.
Another great thing about the Degen Bracket Challenge is that any profits from sold brackets will go towards benefitting Ukraine. This means that if you are selling or buying brackets on OpenSea, all royalties from purchases will go towards a good cause. The Degen Bracket Challenge is a perfect intersection of my interests in NFTs and sports, and if you have the time and interest I would definitely create one!
