Top Gun: Maverick is now Tom Cruise’s top grossing movie of all time, as it just passed $800 million a couple days ago. Considering the quality and quantity of movies that Cruise has been part of, this is an incredible accomplishment (especially since movie theaters have been down recently).
I was not planning to see Top Gun: Maverick, as I never saw the original and wasn’t particularly interested. After the movie came out though, I heard so much positive feedback that I had to check it out. Even if you have never seen the original Top Gun, the new movie still make sense, apart from a couple of references. Top Gun is also definitely a movie worth watching in theaters, as seeing it on your TV at home likely won’t do it justice.
The action scenes in Top Gun: Maverick were incredibly high quality, and it was clear there was a lot of time and effort put into making the movie. Watching the movie also creates a great appreciation for Tom Cruise, as he does his own stunts and training for the role. While he has done crazy stunts before in Mission Impossible and other movies, Top Gun: Maverick may be his most incredible feat yet.
