Japan is known for having some of the best food in the world, and there are plenty of fancy, high-end restaurants to go eat at throughout the country. However, Japan also has some incredible bargains for food (especially with how weak the yen is right now).
One of the best deals you will find in Japan is at 298 Nikuya in Osaka. 298 is a yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant, and it is AYCE. The quality and selection are pretty good (can choose from beef, pork, chicken, etc.), and it also comes with unlimited sides like rice, curry, and vegetables. The real standout is the price though; for 1100 yen (about $8) you can have unlimited yakiniku for 70 minutes.
It is easily one of the best food deals you can ever have, and is a must-hit spot in Osaka (especially if you are on a budget). For the price of a coffee in some US cities, you can get a very solid AYCE deal for both lunch or dinner. Lunch was pretty empty when I visited, but online it says that there can be queues if you are trying to go for dinner.
